Visa 13.2: customer says they cancelled a subscription

Visa 13.2 cases go to whoever can document the cancellation, so recording the cancellation flow prevents most of them.

Updated 25 May 2026.

Visa 13.2 (cancelled recurring transaction) is the dispute reason (the code on your notice) filed when a customer says they cancelled a subscription and were charged anyway, or never knowingly signed up for recurring billing. The case goes to whoever can document the cancellation attempt.

A customer who emails support, calls a number that goes to voicemail, or gives up on a settings page considers the subscription cancelled. If nothing was logged in the billing system, the charge runs on schedule until the chargeback arrives weeks later.

Merchants who record the cancellation flow see far fewer 13.2 disputes. That takes four records: a cancellation page one click from account settings, a confirmation event written to the billing system, an email receipt within minutes, and a screenshot of the page as it appeared that day, stored against the customer record. With those four records most 13.2 cases can be won, and without them most cannot.
