Mastercard and Visa dispute reasons look alike, so merchants often handle them the same way. Defending a Mastercard 4853 with the evidence and timing of a Visa 13.1 case loses cases that were winnable.
Mastercard gives you 45 calendar days from the chargeback message date to respond. Visa gives 30 days. Applying the Visa deadline to Mastercard cases gives up time.
Mastercard 4853 covers several customer-dispute conditions under one code. They include 4853-NA (Goods Not Received), 4853-NF (Not as Described) and 4853-NK (Cancelled Recurring). Each has its own evidence requirement. The sub-condition the customer's bank filed under tells you which evidence to gather.
